Exhibition Walkthrough: David Hammons Body Prints 1968-1979 with Executive Director Laura Hoptman
Join Executive Director Laura Hoptman for an exhibition walkthrough of David Hammons: Body Prints, 1968-1979 on view through May 23, 2021. The walkthrough will conclude with an audience Q+A.
Featuring Hammons's pivotal early works on paper, the exhibition brings together the monoprints and collages in which the artist used the body as both a drawing tool and printing plate to explore performative, unconventional forms of image making. More than a half century after they were made, these early works on paper remain a testament to Hammons’s desire to reinterpret notions of the real; his celebration of the sacredness of objects touched or made by the Black body; his biting critique of racial oppression; and his deep commitment to social justice.
Tips for a Successful Zoom Session
- Log in 5-10 minutes before the workshop begins to avoid any technical delays.
- Use a desktop or laptop for the best image quality. A tablet will also do, but on a smartphone, the image may be too small.
- Make sure you have a stable wifi connection before the workshop begins
