Drawing All-Stars: Open Call for Applications!

ApplyDrawing All-Stars is a free 2.5 year pre-professional fellowship for high schoolers, in grades 9 and 10, led by Teen Art Salon in partnership with The Drawing Center. Focusing on New York City’s next generation of artists, the program supports teens to expand their drawing practices, amplify their artistic ambitions, and pursue creative career endeavors.
Over a two and a half year period participants will develop a portfolio, craft individual style and a critical voice, and build a diverse body of major works through uninterrupted studio time.
A stipend of $500 will be included each year for full participation.
Young artists are provided the pre-professional fellowship from February 2025 - June 2027, which will include:
- 600 hours of arts instruction over the course of the two and a half year program, including drawing classes, independent studio time, and field trips.
- The opportunity to meet and learn from local artists, curators, and students at fine arts colleges.
- The development of polished portfolios of visual art for applying to competitive art colleges
- Exhibiting work in the Drawing Center’s annual spring exhibition of student artwork.

Schedule for Year 1 (February - June, 2025):
- Every other Tuesday 4:00-6:00pm at The Drawing Center
- Fridays 4:00-6:30pm and on Saturdays from 1:00-4:00pm at Teen Art Salon
Participants will have summers off to pursue other interests.

Year 2: October 2025 - June 2026
Tuesdays 4:00-6:30pm & Fridays 4:00-7:30pm
Year 3: October 2026 - June 2027
Fridays 4:00-7:00pm, and Saturdays 1:00-5:00pm
Eligibility: Prospective participants must:
- Reside in any of the five boroughs
- Attend a New York City public high school
- Be in 9th or 10th grade in their current school year
- Commit to 2.5 years of programming
Highest priority will be given to young artists from historically underrepresented backgrounds.
Application Process:
- Phase 1: Application deadline: Monday, December 23rd at midnight
- Phase 2: Status update on Friday, January 3rd. Selected applications will be invited to a virtual group drawing session. This will be held on Zoom.
- Phase 3: Status update in mid-January. Select candidates will be notified about an interview request. Interviews will be held at Teen Art Salon's studio in Queens.
