Conversation between Prix Canson 2016 Juror, Amanda Hunt, Assistant Curator at the Studio Museum in Harlem and 2016 Prix Canson Finalist ruby onyinyechi amanze.

The large scaled drawings of ruby onyinyechi amanze (b. 1982, Nigeria) are part of an ongoing, non-linear narrative calledaliens, hybrids and ghosts that explores space and play while revealing cultural hybridity. "This isn’t social science, it’s magic-realism and the power of drawing to invent worlds for ourselves. I’m a storyteller, not an advocate," she says. ruby onyinyechi amanze is currently an artist-in-residence at the Queens Museum.
