DrawNow! Online! with Denise Maroney on Huguette Caland Part II
Join us for the second installment of our two-part series of drawing workshops led by teaching artist Denise Maroney. Inspired by our current exhibition Huguette Caland: Tête-à-Tête, this workshop will explore weaving and embroidery as they emerge within Caland’s caftan designs and paintings. In this workshop, participants will explore the practical, historical, and artistic uses of weaving and embroidery. Maroney will lead an interactive conversation that traces themes of the female body and garments, and will share creative prompts that explore linear gestures using paper, thread, cloth and ink. Following Caland’s process of working sections while being unaware of the visual whole, participants’ drawings will likewise be put together to create a collective piece. Please note that participation in the first workshop of the series is not required.
This program was recorded via zoom on August 12, 2021.
