Ania Soliman: Biohazards

September 9 – October 7, 2000

For her first solo exhibition, Ania Soliman presented Ania Soliman: Biohazards, a series of four large-scale drawings that reflected upon the representation of epidemics in the media. Soliman worked with wax medium and pigment on paper and her palette was taken from the four colors that comprise the printing process: yellow, magenta, cyan, and black. Each of the drawings consisted of one of these color choices and reproduced stills from the Discovery Channel's Ends of the Earth: Killer Virus series.

Accompanying this exhibition, was the publication of Drawing Papers 12, which included a statement by Ania Soliman, and a selection of illustrations.

Ania Soliman: Biohazards was held at the Drawing Room on 40 Wooster Street and ran consecutively with Selections Fall 2000, which was held at 35 Wooster Street.
