Simultaneously both an artist’s book and a monograph, Pope.L: Showing Up to Withhold includes reproductions on the artist’s significant works spanning the past decade. Originally published to accompany his exhibition Forlesen at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago, the book also presents a forum for reflection on Pope.L’s role within the contemporary sphere as well as the practice of art making today with contributions by renowned critics and scholars, including Lawrie Balfour, Nick Bastis, Lauren Berlant, and K. Silem Mohammad.
