A vital force in the development of Conceptualism and post-Minimalism, Richard Tuttle is one of the most influential artists of his generation. This subtle work by Tuttle was the first in the series of limited edition prints donated to The Drawing Center by outstanding contemporary artists. The title and the image refer to the year 1845 and an inspiring Gustave Courbet painting seen by Tuttle during a visit to the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
