For almost fifty years, The Drawing Center’s exhibitions and programs have endeavored to express what its founder Martha Beck called “the quality and diversity of drawing” by showcasing drawing across multiple disciplines. In recent years, The Drawing Center has presented exhibitions that explore the continuities in expressions of belief, like Of Mythic Worlds: Works from the Distant Past Through the Present, or individual expressions of identity, as in the cut paper works of the extraordinary and underknown Chinese artist Xiyadie. A survey of poet Kahlil Gibran’s works on paper revealed an entirely new side of a world-renowned artist and Naudline Pierre: This is Not All There Is featured new works by the acclaimed contemporary artist.
