Continuing The Drawing Center’s tradition of exhibitions drawn from notable private collections, curator Olivia Shao has selected approximately fifty works on paper from the Burgers’ expansive holdings of more than 1,000 works on paper, to construct a focused visual essay on shared historical, poetic, and philosophical concerns, with Hong Kong and New York as twin points of reference and Eastern thought and Western philosophy as its guiding frameworks.
Drawing Papers 163: Form, Shadow, Motion: Selections from the Burger Collection, Hong Kong features a two-volume set of texts by contributors Olivia Shao, Burger Collection & TOY Meets Art Curator with Monique Burger, Johannes Hoerning, Brian Kuan-Wood, and Chris Wan Feng, and works by twenty-nine artists from around the globe. Co-published in English and in Chinese by The Drawing Center and Asia Society, Hong Kong, this is the first fully bilingual catalog produced by The Drawing Center.
