Guo Fengyi: To See from a Distance

From the late 1980s until her death in 2010, Guo Fengyi created more than five hundred intricate ink drawings on subjects ranging from Chinese mythology to people and places in the news. Published on the occasion of the first major museum exhibition of Guo’s work, Guo Fengyi: To See from a Distance, this publication provides an overview of Guo’s visionary drawings, which incorporate the diagrammatic, the mystical, and the wildly imaginative. The publication features nearly forty selections—many previously unpublished—from her astounding body of work, as well as important new scholarship that sheds light on her unique drawing practice, ultimately situating the artist in the center of contemporary discourse.
