DrawNow! with Teen Art Salon

DrawNow! Online! with Teen Art Salon

Over the course of four weeks, Teen Art Salon will share its methodology on utilizing the sketchbook as space to dream, prepare, rehearse, record, and eventually realize– artistic vision. In this program teenage participants will reimagine their sketchbook as the foundation of their art practice.

Through this series young artists will use the sketchbook as a tool for experimentation, risk-taking, and reimagining. Along with teaching artists Isabella Bustamante and Aneesa Razak, participants will explore individual style, the search for inspiration, and spatial awareness on and/or across the page. Each class participants will be given art prompts and exercises to deepen their conceptual and observational drawing skills.

The sketchbook functions as cherished possession, visual diary, and confidante, and thus our series looks to works exhibited at The Drawing Center to illuminate the artists’ process. By the end of this series, students will be able to fill their sketchbook pages with a variety of dynamic drawings that will serve as the basis for future completed artworks. The goal is for participants to use the fundamentals of sketching, value, texture, shape, gesture, and concept to develop the beginnings of style.

For ages 14-19, all levels of experience welcomed.
