Courtesy of Mathieu Magloire-Wilson's sketchbook.
Alongside Teen Art Salon, young artists will use the sketchbook as a tool for experimentation, risk-taking, and imagination. Featuring artworks from The Drawing Center’s current exhibition Drawing in the Continuous Present, this workshop looks to the artist's sketchbook as a cherished possession, visual diary, and confidante.
Guided by teaching artists Isabella Bustamante and Mathieu Magloire-Wilson, participants will explore individual style and spatial awareness on and/or across the page. Each participant will be given art prompts and exercises to deepen their conceptual and observational drawing skills in order to start reimagining the sketchbook as the foundation of artistic practice.
For ages 14-19, all levels of experience are welcomed.

Education and Community Programs at The Drawing Center are made possible by the May and Samuel Rudin Family Foundation, Inc. Major support is provided by the Evelyn Toll Family Foundation and the LeRoy Neiman and Janet Byrne Neiman Foundation. Additional support is provided by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with the City Council, the Milton and Sally Avery Arts Foundation, the Robert Rauschenberg Foundation, and the Claire and Theodore Morse Foundation.
