DrawNow! with Jaco the Dog and Mark Zubrovich
Join artist Mark Zubrovich, The Drawing Center's Visitor Services Associate, and Jaco, our canine friend, for this interactive drawing program inspired by Joan Jonas: Animal, Vegetable, Mineral.
This workshop will be an opportunity to spend time in our galleries surrounded by 300 of the more than 2,000 works on paper drawn by Jonas over a sixty-year period. We will specifically look at the drawings of Jonas' dogs, "her animal helpers" and get to know one of the canine members of The Drawing Center family through the intimate lens of artist and muse. We invite Jaco into the gallery space with us for this live drawing session and will treat Jaco as a collaborator we have welcomed into our creative process. Inspired by Joan Jonas, we will record and capture Jaco’s energy and personality through a series of drawing exercises.
Please note that to accommodate Jaco, the majority of drawing will take place while sitting on the gallery floors. We will also have tables and chairs available upon request. All drawing materials will be provided.
