Summer 77
June 29 – August 27, 1977
Summer 77 was an exhibition of works on paper by nine younger artists. An August 22, 1977 edition of The Village Voice described English artist Carole Ashley's pencil and marking pen work on a geometric grid, Terry Winters' egg tempera, chalk, and gold leaf designs on paper, and Olli Lyytikäinen's crayon and gouache imaginary portraits, alongside George Negroponte's colored studies in a postconstructivist vein. The review also noted six meticulous, typed musings by poet/artist Christopher Knowles, on view for the first time.
