Selections 28

January 9 – February 16, 1985

January 14, 1985 marked the eighth anniversary of The Drawing Center as the only institution in the United States devoted exclusively to the study and exhibition of drawing. To celebrate this anniversary, Selections 28, an exhibition of new work by emerging artists, presented work by: Brian Bomeisler, G. Roger Denson, Lesley Dill, Barry Gray, Alberto Grieve, Bryn Jayes, Alexis Rockman, Elaine L. Smollin, Gerald Wagoner, and Andrea Way.

All artists had participated in The Drawing Center's Artists' Viewing Program or Open Portfolio Day. Selections 28, like all Selections exhibitions, was not planned around a specific theme or style, but rather to demonstrate the breadth and diversity of drawing, and to broaden contemporary definitions of the medium.

All of the artists in Selections 28 were present at an informal symposium on Wednesday, January 30 at 7:00 p.m. to discuss their work and answer questions from the audience.

Curated through The Drawing Center’s Viewing Program.
